Dermal Fillers

Our office specializes in the use of the hyaluronic acid filler products, Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Ultra Plus. As a result of aging, folds and wrinkles become more apparent due to the loss of subcutaneous fat, loss of skin elasticity and gravity. These filler products are injected into and under the skin to smooth out folds, wrinkles and to correct loss of facial volume.

What Is Hyaluronic Acid?

The hyaluronic acid in Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Ultra Plus is a naturally occurring substance found in the dermis of the skin. The four products we offer are a gel like substance which vary in viscosity. A thicker product is used in deeper folds while a thinner product is used for finer lines. Hyaluronic acid is hydrophilic and attracts moisture to increase the moisture content of the skin. The combination of filler product plus hydration results in improved appearance of the areas treated.

What Areas Are Treated With Hyaluronic Acid?

Areas commonly treated include smile lines (nasolabial folds between the nose and corners of the mouth), “marionnette lines” from the corners of the mouth towards the chin, cheeks and “tear troughs” under the eyes. Although it is common to treat only the nasolabial folds and corners of the mouth, volume replacement in other areas can be extremely beneficial. When facial volume is lost under the eyes, cheek bones and temples, the result is hollowed out appearance of the face. We will always discuss thoroughly your areas of concern, while we input areas that you might not have considered. It is a collaborative process.

Although not a replacement for facial surgery, many patients can significantly improve facial volume with the use of a filler product, perhaps in combination with laser skin tightening.

What About Areas Other Than The Face?

Other areas that patients find filler substances helpful include earlobes (to add volume for additional support of earrings) and backs of hands to provide volume for a more youthful appearance of the hands.

How Much Does Hyaluronic Filler Cost?

Costs vary depending on how much product is used. We will work with you and your budget.
